Cracking thunder and lightning in Newcastle & the North East captured on video by readers

Bot

Like a massive celestial alarm clock, the storm across the North East got everyone up this morning - adults, children .. and the dogs, as readers reported.

Thanks to all who submitted their videos and photographs, which you can see here. There’s no way we could have shown the weather right across the region without you.

If you have an even more dramatic photograph or video, or one showing a North East landmark, we’d still love to see it. Please email community@ncjmedia.co.uk telling us where you were.

Many adults and children hid under the blankets from the early thunder and lightning this morning. Toni Guest of Gateshead took a photo of her eight-year-old son James and said: “Spot the child, he’s in there somewhere. He hates it, can’t stand it whatsoever.”

Eileen Webster of Cramlington, said: “Woke me up about 6.15 rumbled on for a bit then very loud from 7ish until about 7.45. I hate it, it terrifies me.”

Kelly Waterston of Wallsend, said: ”I love it, but my two teenage girls don’t. They are crying about their hair, I think they want to worry more about their eyebrows because they won’t be there by the time they get to school!”
