Like a massive celestial alarm clock, the storm across the North East got everyone up this morning - adults, children .. and the dogs, as readers reported.

Many adults and children hid under the blankets from the early thunder and lightning this morning. Toni Guest of Gateshead took a photo of her eight-year-old son James and said: “Spot the child, he’s in there somewhere. He hates it, can’t stand it whatsoever.”
Eileen Webster of Cramlington, said: “Woke me up about 6.15 rumbled on for a bit then very loud from 7ish until about 7.45. I hate it, it terrifies me.”
Kelly Waterston of Wallsend, said: ”I love it, but my two teenage girls don’t. They are crying about their hair, I think they want to worry more about their eyebrows because they won’t be there by the time they get to school!”
